Hobbyist at Large

Tomorrow , Sunday , I have my downline , Terri ,
here for a get together . Can’t wait to hear how
she is going with her new craft supplies.
When i joined SU , a fellow stamper
gave me a template [A4 size] ] of all
the punches that she had . Now I found that
really helpful, so I will make one, tomorrow
for Terri . It is really handy when you
can place a punch template over stamped
image or greeting to see if it fits well.
Will upload pic of it when completed.
Last Tuesday was 1st workshop of new term .
It was fun as usual , will put cards we did in the gallery asasp.
cheers

Hello and welcome to my room .
Well the new term at the Round-a-Bout has begun and I am pleased about that! I have discovered that I create more fluently when under pressure to perform . I have 6 ladies who expect me to have
3 make and takes for them each week and some new hints, tips and demos for them as well. So it is a real challenge !
Will have some new cards for you to view , so please check them out . I have also begun a new gallery on Splitcoaststampers site
Hope that you enjoy browsing .

Hi , hasn’t the year started with some really hot weather here in Adelaide ?
It has been a terrible start for us here because our 13yr old dog, Sandy , passed away yesterday after a short illness. Hubby and I are devastated and will miss our friend dearly.
As I had been nursing her for quite some time , card making has been infrequent.
But there are a couple I have placed here to share with you .
20th November
hello , glad you could make it.
So much has happened since I was here last. Both myself and Doug have been ill. Doug with an upper respiratory virus and me with heat stroke.
But thankfully both of us are on the mend. Then of course I attended the Stampin’Up Regional here in Adelaide recently. Thanks to Kay for the lift and her company. I had not seen my upline for ages either so it was great to catch up with Roz as well. And to top it all off , our new Summer Mini Catalogue has been made available to demonstrators for a sneak peak . In my gallery , you will see some of the card examples i have made to share with you all . Hope that you will visit that page as well and let me know what you think of them.
Just a reminder . Take care in this horrid heat , keep cool, drink lots of water and check on elderly friends and rellys to make sure that they are ok too.

Hi there . I have mentioned before how happy I am to be involved with Stampin’Up. Well this month has been a shocker and if it were not for this hobby and my “room” ..?
Although my time for actual creating has been really tough to find , I have been able to spend some precious moments browsing the catalogues and using some of the other products , other than stamps , from my stash of Stampin’Up accessories.
One of the new card images put in tonight , is an example of using punches .
Many of the companies stamps are designed to coordinate with some of their other accessories and they will combine to compliment your artistic creativity.
So here I am , still learning , exploring, sharing and being inspired by it all .

Who would have imagined that after making cards , tags and other paper creations for years that i would actually be demonstrating sharing hints and tips with groups of ladies who love this hobby as much as i do!
Mind you it helps to have the right tools , the easy access to a great company and their pool of resources .
Tell you what though, something I have learnt as i share time with my group , regarding stamp blocks. It has become a little harder to keep my stamp blocks clean from excess ink.
I have heard that one should seal the wooden blocks with some sort of sealant before use. I wonder if that would be before one places the rubber image on the block . Have to check that out and let you know.
Also , it pays to flush out your Stampin’ scrub frequently too, as frequent cleaning of your stamps with the Stampin’mist , results in a right royal messy foam which also stains the stamp block.
You know these are hints you dont read about in the technique books or the catalogues. These are things you learn by experience .
Well, I’m closing now but will try to add more cards tomorrow night . Thanks for checking in

well as you have probably guessed I am really happy , chuffed , over the moon and glad that I have scored this gig. Now, I thought that you had to be really top of the chain good at the arts to hold work shops outside of friends and family . It’s not that i think of myself as a dodo at this craft but certainly never imagined that I would be where I am now. I might tell you I have forgotten to take something or other and made some little errors , some pretty poor embossing but on the whole my group has been pretty forgiving , I must say . Thank you ladies.
So now i will show you some cards.

Well , I have had a couple of Tuesday workshops now and , as I imagined, I am really enjoying the experience . I hope that the ladies who participate are having fun as well as finding the tips , hints and techniques that I share , worth their time .
We have made a few cards , small gift boxes and lolly baskets . Last week I showed some ways to use the chip board shapes .
I even made a couple of 12×12 scrapbook pages . That’s something new for me .
Will try to upload those pics asap.
What do you think ?

Sunday 3rd May
Hello visitors . Well my Tuesdays have been , to me , successful . Not too rigid in work load but we have been able to make and take a few cards and gift baskets or boxes . The ladies at my table are friendly and easy going allowing me to relax and share my passion for stamping and paper.
Yesterday I shared part of the day with a Stampin’Up buddy at her home , where she and a few other ladies held a Mini Convention. Oh, we had a lot of fun , laughter, sharing tips and hints with the making of a few cards. Lunch was provided by the host, Kay. And I thank her for a wonderful time.
Kay [standing] and Sue , who showed us a great scrapbook page or two.
Another of the ladies taking part on the day.
Now I am in the process of mapping out a plan for next Tuesday’s workshop at the Round-a-bout. I will place a few pictures from our mini convention into my gallery.

Hello , here I am with some exciting news . Well for me any way ! I hope that you will be excited for me!
I have just plucked up the courage to check out a group of avid crafties who get together every Tuesday . They meet in a Church Hall about a klm from my unit. There are about 80 people there whose hobbies range from glass painting, Mosaics, needlework , quilting, smocking[ can you remember that??] and egg decorating.
Now would you believe that the lady who as handling one of the card creating tables was leaving and the afternoon coordinator had been praying for a replacement when I called in . With great trepidation I offered to try for a term to see if the ladies thought that had something to offer at all. I believe that I have . The opportunity of sharing my passion for paper, stamping and card art certainly is one I dont want to miss .
My first time at the head of the table will be the 28th Apri so I will let you know how that goes a little later .
Please, all my visitors here , wish me luck through the comments section .I will appreciate that more than you know!

Granddad and story time

Nanna's day
I celebrated my birthday for the first time with my Grandchildren . Their family room is just that . A real meeting place , a family fun place.
November 22nd
Roz has set a 6″x6″ scrapbook page as a challenge . Now while I have made a small book for a grandson I have yet to make a ‘grown up ‘ version so here is my first page . Hubby and I travel to visit our children and their familys several times a year and love our compact van . It is our home away from home.

Home travels miles
More news…next year I will be expanding my workshops and demos so early on will show you the projects I will be doing and if you think that you would like to participate OR if you would like to see another technique or style please express your interest by contacting me on shirlb1@bigpond.com at the end of January.

Thanks Michelle . Seeing the satisfaction of some newbie who has made something all by themselves after a few simple instructions , is well worth the butterflies I experience as I begin the demo/ make and take session. And as for the more experienced , hopefully I can inspire their creativity by sharing some new ideas.
